Drawing on interviews, participant observation and analysis of séance practices, the study explores why people seek contact with the dead and how these encounters generate experiential certainty, address crises and produce new forms of meaning. By situating the Hungarian material within broader European and global contexts, the article shows how individualised, experience-centred mediumship operates within today’s spiritual and consumer landscapes.</dc:description><dc:date>2026</dc:date><dc:date>2026-09-18 15:08:24</dc:date><dc:type>Članek v reviji</dc:type><dc:identifier>188130</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 2-187.5:39(439)</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 1408-6271</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.3986/SMS20262910</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 291660803</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></metadata>
