It argues that fur farming is increasingly incompatible with EU animal welfare, ethical considerations, public health, and environmental protection. Scientific evidence shows that species used in fur production cannot be kept in current farming systems without systemic welfare harm, while zoonotic risks highlight cross-border concerns. The paper assesses the EU's competence to adopt a Union-wide prohibition under Articles 43 and 114 TFEU, interpreted in light of Article 13 TFEU, and concludes that such measures are legally feasible and compatible with WTO law. It further concludes that an EU-wide ban is both legally defensible and ethically and normatively justified.</dc:description><dc:date>2026</dc:date><dc:date>2026-07-08 10:04:41</dc:date><dc:type>Članek v reviji</dc:type><dc:identifier>184480</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 179.3:502/504:574.1</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 3020-1063</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.36151/DALPS.106</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 283912195</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></metadata>
