Using sociolinguistic theory, it examines how characters switch between styles, using the Gyeongsang dialect and Standard Korean, depending on the emotional and social context of their conversations. Additionally, it investigates how linguistic style-shifting and attitudes toward dialect vary across different settings and generations. By analyzing dialogue patterns from the series, with a focus on characters Gim Seon-yeong and Choe Mu-seong, the study highlights the symbolic role of the dialect as a marker of identity, intimacy, and regional connection. The findings of this study reveal a clear generational split where older characters frequently use dialect in informal and emotional situations. In comparison, younger characters tend to favor Standard Korean, reflecting broader national trends toward language standardization.
