Coursebook SeriesČuček, Tjaša (Avtor) Skela, Janez (Mentor) ELT coursebooksEnglish as a lingua francaglocalizationcoursebook series Right on!primary schoolThe purpose of this master’s thesis is to explore the implications of the recently-emerged status of English as a lingua franca within the scope of traditional ELT materials development and design and propose a solution to the lowering of the efficacy of said materials through the incorporation of glocalizing principles as a standardized practice of contemporary coursebook production. The theoretical part aims to identify which traditional assumptions of ELT materials can be regarded as ineffective due to the positioning of English as a lingua franca and simultaneously strives to either confirm or refute a hypothesis suggesting that the endorsement of general glocalizing processes in coursebook production can mitigate the onset of these issues. The empirical part of the study features an example of such glocalization as highlighted through the adaptation of the global Right on! coursebook series to the Slovenian context.
