Essentially, bilirubin is a potent endogenous antioxidant molecule with anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antithrombotic, and endocrine properties. This review paper presents the interplay betweeen obesity-related pathological processes and bilirubin, with a focus on adipose tissue and adipokines. We discuss potential strategies to mildly increase serum bilirubin levels in obese patients as an adjunctive therapeutic approach.</dc:description><dc:date>2021</dc:date><dc:date>2022-04-12 12:34:55</dc:date><dc:type>Članek v reviji</dc:type><dc:identifier>136091</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 613.25</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 2076-3921</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.3390/antiox10091352</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 76178947</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></metadata>
