	</dc:creator><dc:subject>steel wire ropes</dc:subject><dc:subject>wood extraction</dc:subject><dc:subject>tractors</dc:subject><dc:subject>skidders</dc:subject><dc:description>The method and partial results of the survey of mechanical damage to steel wire ropes (torn wires and rope deformations), used in tractor wood extraction in the Republic of Slovenia, is described in the article. Ten ropes of three different types were examined in the investigation. It was found out that the number of torn wires increased significantly towards the end of a wire rope (that is towards the load fastening point), while other deformations are more frequent at the first half of the rope.
