Methods: In this nationwide Slovenian cohort, hospital, pharmacy, and vital-status data were linked for adults hospitalised with coronary artery, cerebrovascular, or peripheral artery disease between 2015 and 2022. Statin adherence was assessed as time-varying rolling 365-day proportion of days covered (PDC) and 120-day CMA7. The outcome was all-cause death or rehospitalisation for ASCVD.
Results: Of 82,083 patients in the 30-day landmark cohort, 62,932 had at least one post-discharge statin dispensing. Overall, 23% had no recorded post-discharge dispensing, rising to 30% in peripheral artery disease. Higher adherence was independently associated with lower risk of the composite outcome: each 10-percentage-point increase in PDC and CMA7 was associated with a hazard ratio of 0.96 (95% CI 0.96–0.97; both p&lt;0.001).
Conclusion: Better longitudinal statin adherence was associated with lower risk of death or recurrent ASCVD hospitalisation, while substantial treatment gaps remained, particularly in peripheral artery disease.</dc:description><dc:date>2026</dc:date><dc:date>2026-09-05 13:10:08</dc:date><dc:type>Neznano</dc:type><dc:identifier>186851</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language><dc:coverage>Slovenia</dc:coverage><dc:coverage>2015-2022</dc:coverage></rdf:Description></rdf:RDF>
