The analysis includes four officially approved coursebooks: Think 2 and Project 3 for English, and Aula Internacional Plus 2 and Mundo Diverso 2 for Spanish. The study investigates the integration of pragmatic content into coursebook structure, the explicitness of pragmatic presentation, the frequency of occurrence of the selected speech acts, and the range of pragmatic realization strategies. The study combines quantitative and qualitative analysis based on established frameworks from interlanguage pragmatics. The findings show considerable variation among the coursebooks. Requests are the most frequent speech act category and display the greatest range of realizations, while apologies are the least represented. Although language functions are often explicitly labelled, metapragmatic explanations remain limited.
