Our research contributes to the existing body of knowledge in critical geopolitics, by focusing on the relationship between media cover age and geopolitical imaginations. This paper utilizes a 10-year corpus of 27,684 news articles to exam ine how the United States is portrayed by Slovenian news media. Slovenia is a particularly interesting case since it is the only North Atlantic Treaty Organiza tion (NATO) member whose citizenry hold distinctly negative views of the United States. The paper begins with a historical overview of U.S.-Slovenian bilateral relations. The second part situates the research in the critical geopolitics literature, specifically reviewing the role of news media in the creation of geopolitical logics. The methodological challenges of using big data sets for text analysis in geopolitical discourses are addressed next, together with detailing the crea tion process for the corpus. This leads into an analy sis and discussion of the most frequent terms (special emphasis was given to places and actors) and domi nant themes found in the data set and why they were so prominent. The findings indicate that a country’s image abroad depends not only on its foreign policy but also on a wide variety of domestic policies. They also emphasize the significant role of local media in influencing public perception and shaping geographi cal imagination.</dc:description><dc:date>2025</dc:date><dc:date>2026-01-30 08:45:16</dc:date><dc:type>Neznano</dc:type><dc:identifier>178805</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></rdf:Description></rdf:RDF>
