As a result, researchers and industry stakeholders are focusing more on the concept of resilience, with particular attention needed on the maritime industry as a crucial link in most global value chains. This master’s thesis examines how maritime companies build resilience to geopolitical crises through a comparative case study analysis of their responses to the Ukraine war and the Red Sea crisis using a selected framework of resilience strategies. The analysis shows that maritime companies build resilience with all tools outlined in the framework, yet certain patterns of responses emerge that the framework fails to fully capture. Moreover, companies are more aware of the growing global instability and unpredictability and are adopting an increasingly risk-focused approach to their operations. Based on these findings, an extended framework with additional tools is proposed to better fit the specifics of the maritime industry in an increasingly geopoliticised world. The thesis contributes to the study of resilience and the broader field of international relations by offering valuable insights for other industries, an extended framework of resilience strategies, and a starting point for further research on resilience of not only companies and their value chains but also countries as important actors in the global business environment.</dc:description><dc:publisher>J.
