The goal of the application is to offer to the users a comprehensive approach in exploration of world cinema history. The motivation for creating this application was the desire to increase general knowledge on cinema by turning the attention of the public away from the films that are advertised and promoted by the contemporary movie industry. For each movement in the application, there can be found a description as well as a list of films that are suggested to the user for watching. It is expected that through watching these films the user will gain a better understanding of the movement in question. The application also provides information about each individual film, like the plot summary and the movie cast. Based on this, the user is supposed to gain insight into the film and also to decide which film he would like to see at a given moment. The user is able to then add each of these films to his watch-list, watched list and favorites list. Based on the favorite films of the user, the platform finds potential matches with other users which share a similar taste. Users that are similar can communicate with each other in a private chat room, to share their acquired knowledge and opinions on cinema. The list of similar users might change considering that with time taste can also change. Nevertheless the conversations are saved and the user can access them at any time. Users can also follow their progress in the discovery of films, in order to stimulate their motivation in the learning process.
