Ways of developing listening comprehension in English and Italian as foreign languagesKrušič, Tamara (Avtor) Skela, Janez (Mentor) Mertelj, Darja (Mentor) In the Master's Thesis we focus on one of the four main skills teachers develop in class, listening comprehension. Listening comprehension is not easy to develop and it takes a lot of practice to succeed. The aim of the Master's Thesis is to observe the process of developing listening comprehension skills in class, including the types of pre-, while- and post-listening tasks teachers use to make the process of comprehension easier. One separate chapter focuses on the use of audio-visual material. Videos have become much more accessible in the last decade thanks to the Internet. The research based on the questionnaire has shown that only a few teachers include listening in every lesson and only a few follow the three-part skills model. They still mostly rely on textbook activities and sometimes find materials on the Internet. Audio-visual materials are still not frequently used, and when they are, it is mainly to motivate learners, and rarely with the aim of developing their listening skills.[T.
