Motor education is an important factor in the psychophysical development of a preschool child. It is good for a child to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Whenever we, preschool teachers, spend time with children outdoors, we either carry out a planned programme or play with them spontaneously. One way of carrying out a planned programme in a kindergarten outdoors is hiking.
The diploma thesis titled Načrtovanje planinskih izletov s programom Ciciban planinec v vrtcu [Planning Hiking Trips with the Preschool Mountaineer Programme in Kindergarten] is made up of a theoretical and empirical section. The aim of this diploma thesis is to present the procedure and realisation of planning a programme of hiking trips for a kindergarten group of children (Biba unit) of the Škofja Loka Kindergarten by means of the Preschool Mountaineer programme. The theoretical section presents the planning carried out in kindergarten; movement and play as a child’s basic need; movement and walking in the mountains; possibilities of interdisciplinary integration; the accompanying circumstances of planning trips in kindergarten; the role of the trip leader; the Preschool Mountaineer programme; a trip as the entire activity ranging from preparation to conclusion and reliving the trip; and possibilities of differentiation during the trip.
The empirical section presents the examples of planned trips, which were carried out in the 2015/16 school year. It presents the entire programme of trips, which were planned for the Zvonček (Little Bell) group. The entire planning stage includes the basic data and the following contents: yearly trip calendar, accompanying activities, end-of-year trip, lesson plan format, and enclosed lesson plans and evaluations for each individual trip. The trips were adapted to the age of the children and the area of the Biba unit of the Škofja Loka Kindergarten, and were carried out in cooperation with the Škofja Loka Kindergarten, the parents, the children, the Škofja Loka mountaineering club and other external collaborators. The appendices include photographs and didactic materials that may be of help in planning and carrying out trips in kindergarten. It has been established that the Preschool Mountaineer programme has been successfully integrated into the unit’s annual plan or the planned curriculum of the Little Bell group. In the group, 90.5% of the children, ages 4 to 6, have successfully reached the goals of the Preschool Mountaineer programme in a single school year. By presenting the nine lesson plans for trips or their different destinations, it has been determined that the Biba and Najdihojca units of the Najdihojca Kindergarten are located on variegated terrain, which is highly suitable for carrying out diverse hiking trips for preschool children. Owing to such successful planning, implementing and reliving of trips, this programme is a great incentive for integrating the programme into the annual action plan of the Škofja Loka Kindergarten.
