Following the general movement towards gender equality in our society, language is evolving accordingly. While language guides dictate the use of masculine gender as unmarked, new ways of expressing gender are being used (for example, the underscore format). There are several different ways of expressing gender in the Slovene and French language, including new abbreviated forms. As these remain insufficiently researched, misspelling is a frequent occurrence; furthermore, another significant question on the adequate usage of abbreviations in different types of texts still remains.
