This thesis examines three different configurations of rod fixators for distal tibia fracture treatment. Anatomy of the shin, ankle and foot was studied as well as various fractures and external fixations in general. Basic rigidity parameters of rod fixators are presented via illustrations, equations and explanation. Analysis of the fixator configurations was done both experimentally in the laboratory environment with synthetic bone and real fixator elements as well as numerically by finite elements method in Abaqus/CAE software. The results were qualitatively compared among selected configurations.
