Introduction: The bachelor’s thesis deals with the performance of training children for resuscitation. It is extremely important that the first-aider can correctly use the device – the automatic external defibrillator. Automatic external defibrillators are devices that are safe and easy to use and can be used by anyone who received basic training. Purpose: The purpose of the bachelor’s thesis was to determine if the two-hour program of the course of basic resuscitation procedures using automatic external defibrillator is an appropriate form of training for children and adolescents, and at which age, according to teachers’ evaluation, it is most appropriate to begin the training. Methods: Using a quantitative method of research, we have researched the appropriateness of training from basic resuscitation procedures using the automatic external defibrillator on a sample of professionals who carry out automatic external defibrillator training among youth. Results: The research involved 73 experts from all over Slovenia. The results of the research have shown that training is very appropriate for children and adolescents. Respondents believe that the most appropriate year to start with the training is at the age of 12, but it can also start at the age of 10. Two hours were considered an appropriate time for implementation, but the average duration of training is 5 hours per year for most of the respondents. Discussion and conclusion: The results of the research can serve as guidelines for improving the system of training children and adolescents of basic resuscitation procedures, using the automatic external defibrillator. The results of the research are similar to the results of research abroad.
