We developed a design of a wick testing device. The wick is used to transfer liquid from the condenser to the evaporator of a heat pipe. The process is driven by the capillary effect. 2 conceptual solutions for a wick testing device are presented in this work: the first one is designed as a glass tube with lids on both sides, the other is designed as a glass vessel in another glass vessel with a standard cover. Both solutions allow the variation of mesh wick lengths from 60 to 100 mm. We created a wick testing device and conducted a preliminary capillary effect experiment. Measurements of the gathered water volume and heat flux show promising results of the experimental work on the developed device.
