Currently available e-bikes offer certain amount of assistance when cycling, but are still too heavy and have bad handling. The reason for this is mostly because of the big engine and a large battery, which are both currently ment and designed for cycling on longer distances. The purpose of this experiment was to establish minimal required motor power and minimal battery capacity, that would suffice for urban cycling. Such enviroment is usually limited by shortert distances and mostly level terrain. Smaller drivetrain and battery dimensions would contribute to a lighter bicycle and improved aesthetics.
