The aim of the thesis is the design and presentation of the brand Barvanka and the collection of children's textile products, which are formed under her name. In addition to the basic function of textile products, the specialty - in addition to the image - is also an interactive approach that offers children the opportunity to develop motoric abillities and creativity through drawing. Certain products are also created with the thought and purpose of helping children with special needs. The main guide of this project is to draw a smile on children's faces and create positive and high quality items, which will continue to develop even further.
The theoretical part focuses primarily on children, presenting and describing areas such as the development and importance of drawing during the stages of childhood, design intended for children and special requirements to consider when designing textile products for children. This is followed by the field of marketing, where the emphasis is on the importance, characteristics and development of the brand, which also acts as a key theoretical basis for further work.
For the experimental work, I created the design of the brand Barvanka, made a collection of textile products within it and produced selected prototypes, which represent the main idea on which the collection is based. I also enriched the experimental part with an additional collection of textile patterns and made some samples with silk screen printing and digital printing, which are presented in a catalog of textile patterns Barvanka.
The basic idea combines areas of illustration and textile design – two areas that can be extraordinarily well complemented. The resulting products thus have not only the decorative and basic functional features, but they also offer children entertainment, a different way of widening imagination and an unique approach to developing and strengthening drawing, motor and also social skills. Collection of the brand Barvanka – made up of bedding, pillows and playing area – is something special and different from any other product in the market.
