The bachelor's thesis is written about sports injuries of the wrist and it describes most common injuries and mechanisms of them. Second part of the thesis consists of a program for wrist injury prevention. Last, third part is a program which can be used after injury already happened and was treated with physical therapy.
To get to conclusions and to form the programs, we used exsisting literature about the topic and tested the exercises in the procces of rehabilitation.
The most common acute injuries described in the thesis are scaphoid fracture, hook of the hamate fracture, distal radius fracture, tear of scapholunate ligament, perilunate and lunate dislocation, tear of triangular fibrocartilage complex and extensor carpi ulnaris subluxation. Next are overuse injuries which consist of carpal tunnel syndrome, scapholunate instability and children overuse injuries.
The two main aims of the bachelor's thesis were to give athletes a general program which they can use either at the beginning of the practice in the warm up part or at the end of the practice as the cooling down process to prevent the injuries and also to create a post rehabilitation program for athletes to first gain back full use of the wrist and at the same time prevent reoccurance of the injury. In both programs the main aim is to built up wrist stability with making the muscles around the joint stronger.
The exercises are divided into different levels according to the muscles abilities to perform them correctly. Prevention program consists of two different levels, post injury program is roughly split into two sections: first section is meant to isolate the wrist joint and its movements and its divided into four different levels. The second section includes complex movements in which wrist joint is important but also involves core and shoulder muscles. This one is split into three different levels.
Lastly the thesis provides examples of programs week after week with number of series, number of repetitions and difficulty levels.
