The aim of this thesis is to present the positive effects of Pilates training on mental and physical condition of the pregnant women and describe Pilates exercises with an elastic band that are appropriate in all stages of pregnancy.
In the thesis we first present the main features of Pilates training. We describe the origin, the ideological leader and a short history of Pilates training. We identify the positive effects of training and outline principles that are the foundation of the execution of each Pilates exercise.
Next, we describe the anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy that we have to consider when planning a training program. We have listed the recommendations for safe training and enumerate the positive effects of physical activity during pregnancy.
Pilates is very suitable for pregnant women because it can be implemented in all stages of pregnancy. We have listed the positive effects of regular training and guidelines for safe exercise of Pilates during pregnancy. Pilates training is all about controlled movements and physical posture, which is especially important for pregnant women. It is the integration of mind, body and spirit, which affects both the physical as well as the mental well-being of every person.
In the last part of the thesis we present Pilates exercises with an elastic band that can be implemented in all stages of pregnancy. The elastic band can be used to strengthen the muscles of the arms, legs and the torso. It is an easy and useful tool, suitable for improvement of physical exercise during pregnancy. The initial position is given for each exercise, the course of movement as well as the purpose of the exercise and the recommended number of repetitions are described. We added the picture material for a better understanding of the exercises.
