Mechanical vibration carries the information, describing dynamic state of measured elements. Besides the complicated analysis of measurement results, the main reason for limited possibilities of measuring dynamic response is the high cost of required equipment. Our objective is to examine the possibility of constructing a low-cost measuring device to perform vibration monitoring and rotor balancing. The device captures acceleration in time domain, the signal is then processed through a code compiled using Python programming language. Based on the calibration of the device we have successfully diagnosed imbalance and performed balancing of a test rotor.
