This thesis presents the map of the damage of Brežice after the earthquake on January 29, 1917. In the introductory section, the phenomenon of earthquakes and, above all, historical facts about the earthquake in Brežice from 1917 are briefly presented. The data used in this thesis is also presented below. The re-embedded Franciscan cadastre served as the main source of data for the construction of damage maps of buildings as a cartographic basis, as well as translations of damage records and assessments of vulnerability and damage to buildings. The procedure for creating a map with a map editor's schedule is described, the mapping area on the map with the coordinates of the edges of the leaves and the other map elements is specified. The performance of the identification of buildings from the translation of damage inventories to the final display on the map, as well as the damage and vulnerability of buildings from which the strength of the earthquake is clearly visible, are presented statistically. We conclude that as many as 90 % of all buildings were damaged at that time in Brežice, 73 % of the buildings were moderately to severely damaged. Since buildings with a rather unfavorable assessment of vulnerability of class B prevailed, we conclude that the inadequate quality of construction was one of the causes for serious damage. This is the first map created for this kind of earthquake analysis and will serve as a basis for further research and as a basis for further processing of spatial data in the geographic information systems (GIS).
