Master’s thesis includes the development and construction of the gear set for automatic
door-opening systems. At the beginning are presented problems and the theoretical
background of the problem, as this enable to define the technical specifications of
the product. Further on, there are developed and evaluated various design concepts.
Selected technical solution is characterized on the basis of Failure mode and effect
analysis (FMEA) of the individual components of the composition. Inside the gear
assembly there is a very important mechanical connection between the shaft and the
drive worm, which is performed with help of tight fit. Tight fit is calculated in a way
that the joint can withstand all the torques. Key elements of the gear set are the gears,
which are calculated in accordance with SIST ISO 6336 standard and are verified by
using a commercial software.
