Water is an important source of life. Not only as a building block for organisms, but also as their habitat. Because of this, the use of bioengineering techniques in fields of water management is becoming more common. Bioengineering techniques are techniques, that meet the hydraulic requirements, while maintaining or increasing the biodiversity. In this thesis I planned the restoration of the overflow channel Ara, which discharges the high waters of river Rižana into the brackish part of Škocjanski zatok nature reserve, with the use of bioengineering techniques.
