In the life of an individual, in addition to family and social relationships work has also an important role. The harmony in the family affects work; likewise the satisfaction with the work and work relationships affects a person and indirectly their family. In the theoretical part of this thesis we described a family, its influence on the individual, the family life cycle, work - particularly the work of Special Education Teachers – and the connection between family and work. In the empirical part we made a qualitative processing and interpretation of the data obtained through interviews with four Special Education Teachers, who are employed in different organizations, and their partners and children. We were trying to establish what impact has the Special Education Teachers' professional knowledge on their monitoring of their own children's development and on the level of anxiety during their own pregnancy, how a more strenuous working day or absence due to work commitments effect the family life, and what are the different degrees of the teachers’ sharing their experience from the work environment with their partners.
