Reactions of [Cu(kinal)2(CH3OH)]∙CH3OH (kinal⎼ stands for anion of quinaldic acid with a deprotonated carboxylic group) with an excess of a secondary ligand with a hydroxyl group have resulted in substitution of labile methanol and coordination of new ligand. Two novel coordination compounds of copper(II) were prepared: [Cu(kinal)2(4-hmpy)2], a complex with 4-hydroxymethylpyridine (4-hmpy), and [Cu(kinal)2(Nmea)], a complex with N-methylethanolamine (Nmea). Their compositions and structures were revealed by means of X-ray structure analysis on a single-crystal.
