This thesis describes the analysis of offshore wind farm, i.e., farm or flock of wind power plants at sea. Analysis is performed using the program SAM (System Advisor Model). This is the type of program to compile and analyze, using certain input data capacity and financial model for certain types of renewable energy sources (wind, water, solar energy ...). The thesis will be focused only in relation to the capacity of offshore wind power plants, financial model will be abandoned.
In the introduction, we present a brief history of wind power plants, their use also touches the manufacture of wind power and the way of generating electricity by wind power.
Below is a selection of possible sites for the construction of offshore farms and location analysis through many years of data collection regarding wind energy in the chosen field. We proceed to present the program SAM (System Advisor Model) of operation (equations, algorithms...). Followed by potential formation of wind turbines in the offshore wind farm regarding wind conditions where both described and graphic results will be shown for the best layout possible. In the conclusion the author’s assessment is shown for each layout.
