The purpose of my BA thesis was to examine the knowledge of English as a first foreign language of 11/12 years old pupils between Slovenia and Denmark. In the theoretical part I described and compared the school systems in Slovenia and in Denmark with an emphasis on primary education. I compared the methods of knowledge assessment and the curriculum for the subject English. I have also presented the education and the training of primary school teachers of English in Slovenia and in Denmark. I was interested in the similarities and the differences.
In the empirical part I have analyzed the knowledge of English of the Danish and the Slovenian students after three years of compulsory language learning in primary school. I conducted the research with the help of a Slovenian national test, which I carried out in the Slovenian and Danish urban and rural schools.
