Each project requires management, but it is up to us to find a way to tackle it. Careful and systematic project management can prevent a number of problems. In this respect, information science is extremely helpful. The emergence of automated systems for project management has already saved considerable time and energy to project managers. However, companies that are not familiar with information science can find it difficult to select the appropriate project management tool from hundreds of different tools. Only limited resources are available on how to choose the right project management tool, even less so in Slovene. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse and assess some of the popular project management tools and provide analysis results based on certain criteria. It explains the strengths and weaknesses of each tool. A number of screenshots are included for a better idea about the tools. In addition to the evaluation of the tools and theoretical criteria, the thesis presents the management of the project "Developing and introducing the student information system" for a practical view of the tools.
