Apart from drawing, painting, graphic arts and sculpture, the formation and arrangement of space is one of the main areas of fine arts education of preschool children, but is less present in kindergartens compared to e.g. drawing or painting. Every interest in spatial problems, covering the area of drawings, paintings and also three-dimensional space, is extremely important for the child's development since it enables a gradual development of visual and spatial imagination and thinking.
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis presents development stages of fine art expression of preschool children as well as the formation and arrangement of space and possibilities of using it in a two-dimensional setting or plane and in three-dimensional space. The importance of space in architecture and application of it in child's drawings is also discussed in detail.
In the empirical part, the diploma thesis describes and presents activities through which the children familiarised and formed the space and depicted the architecture in their residential environment. They got acquainted with space by playing in the vicinity of the kindergarten, while the architecture was introduced to them through buildings near the kindergarten and particularly in the surroundings of their homes.
