Dendrochronological and dendroclimatological surveys were performed on beech stands on Mašun, at Pivka Jama and in Jelševec. On Mašun 24 trees were analized, 8 trees were analized in Pivka Jama and 27 trees in Jelševec. At each site samples were collected by taking discs from felled trees. Three radial samples were taken from every disc. All samples were smoothed, ring-widths measured, cross-dated and dated. Raw and standardized local tree-ring chronologies were calculated for every site using TSAP/x and ARSTAN computer programmes. The length of the Mašun chronology was 164 years (1844-2007), of the Pivka Jama chronology 168 years (1840-2007) and of the Jelševec chronology 154 years (1954-2007). Relationship between ring-widths and climate data (average monthly temperatures, monthly sum of precipitation)was analized using DENDROCLIM 2002 programme. Correlation and response coefficients calculated show a statistically significant and stable relationship between June precipitation and ring-width at all three sites. Therelationship is the most pronounced at the Jelševec site and the least pronounced at the Mašun site. High temperatures in June have a significant negative impact on ring-width at all three sites. Ring widths on Mašun are also positively affected by precipitation in August of the previous year.
