Mock privet, a native of evergreen vegetation in the Mediterranean region (Fraxino orni-Quercetum ilicis) is a small tree or shrub up to 10 m height with a bole diameter to 25 cm. Its wood is exceptional dense (density in oved-dry condition ro = 855-862 kg/m³), tough, hard, and strong, comparable with the boxwood (Buxus sempervirens L.). Predominantly solitary pores and vascular tracheids in radial or oblique arrangement. Perforation plates simple. Vessels and vascular tracheids with distinct helical thickenings.
