This article presents problems about protection of wood against weathering. Under changes of climate conditions and weathering wood degrades very quickly. To prolong natural durability of wood we have to use various protections like construction, chemical and surface protection. For protection of garden furniture, joinery, wooden constructions and cladding mostly surface treatment is being used which has protective and decorative role. For this purpose various finishes can be used. We classify them in three main groups: paints, clear finishes, and stains. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, which are also discussed in this article.
