The article deals with changes contemporary cities are facing with in the informational society. The history of human society development confirms that space and technological development are closely interrelated. As a result of technological development at every level of human development, different infrastructure, residential spaces, places and buildings, which form and reflect the shape of that space, are appearing. We are also facing these kind of changes today. It seems that with the appearance of cyberspace (into which social life is gradually transferring) traditional city's functions are becoming less important. As a consequence, new urban trends, like virtual cities, are appearing. By some authors, these virtual cities are the cities ofthe future. The article attempts to show the ways in which modern city should develop in informational and global society.
