The essay starts from the understanding of childhood in the Enlightenment children poetry, which was constituted in opposition to children's folk literature. It also showws the major shifts in incorporating child-like playfulnes by the older and contemporary poets, until the poets abandon modernistic play in most recent poetry for young readers.
