Kolpa d.d., a Slovenian bathroom equipment producer, has decided to upgrade the equipment for producing composite boards due to a constantly bigger demand for composite boards, and the inability to dispatch them in time, low productivity, and consequently higher costs of production. Low utilisation rates of the input material and high scrap proportions also presented additional challenge. Research has shown that replacement of technology for the production of composite boards brings profit within 5 years, 7 % savings in material, 1 % less scrap pieces, and 71 % decrease per composite board. Future cost savings achieved by a better utilisation of input material, lower number of scrap composite boards and less work force were evaluated using the method of current net value.
