The problem of negative impacts caused by red deer in the woods of the Kokra forest management unit is very severe. The main purpose of this thesis was to quantify these impacts, in order to determine the scope of damage more precisely. Therefore it was made a census in a period August-September 2005 onthe 1 km raster in Kokra forest management unit using a modified metod of recording damage caused by red deer in Slovenia in which was listed 39 plots of saplings in the size of 25 m2 and 11 plots of pole-phase stands in the sizeof 625 m2. Then the data was analysed, sorted by tree species, species groups, height stages, preference, thickness stages, occurance of injuries andby plots. As anticipated, it was found that the scope of injuries is high, both in saplings and in pole-phase stands. However, in the last period, the planed and the executed remove of red deer in the area increased. The damage will presumably follow the remove and reach a lower level, which will be revealed in the next few years.
