This B.Sc. dissertation describes autonomous power supply of a house from renewable sources of energy and/or with a portable generator in case of longer power outage. In the theoretical part, we analysed in detail the working of a standalone solar system (parts of the solar system: solar module, battery, grid inverter, ac loads), the pros and cons of the mentioned system, the overview and comparison of prices for solar system and the description of generators.
In the practical part, we presented an example of supplying a gas heater with a portable generator. When plugged into the electrical grid, the gas heater worked normally, but when it was plugged into the generator (we tested a number of them) it shut down a few seconds after starting. What follows is a description and detailed analysis of the phases of solving the problem. In this part, we focused on measuring the generator voltages and calculating voltage drops (at the ends of electrical extensions, at ohmic resistance of the winding of isolation transformer, cable of gas heater and cooling systems). At the end, we presented results with which we came to the conclusion of the whole case.
