The diploma thesis describes the dimensioning of lines in the interior installations (apartments, office buildings, industrial facilities…) and its protection. It is divided into four parts.
In the beginning, the shorter part of the content contains load calculations or determination of the object peak power, which is important for the dimensioning of the object main supply. This part is briefly described due to the fact that it was already determined or provided for the office building the calculation was made for. In the fore-mentioned office building the appropriateness of the main supply lines and their protection elements needed dimensioning or to be substantiated.
According to the expected power input of the object the suitable line (cable) must be selected. This includes the determination of the suitable cross-section of the line and compliance with the regulations. In this way safety, reliability, quality of the supply and economy of the investment are ensured.
In residential, business and similar objects there are mostly single-phase consumers, in craft and industry three-phase consumers prevail. It must be considered that during conduction the lines get warm and voltage drops occur. When selecting the cross-section of the line or cable the thermal, electrical and mechanical characteristics of the dimensioning must be considered and the economy plays an important part too. This is described in the chapter: Dimensioning.
The next chapter describes the protection of electrical installations and consumers. When selecting the appropriate protection elements that comply with the set requirements, economical operation without interference can be expected. The chapter describes properties and tripping characteristics of low-voltage fuses, circuit breakers and switches.
The last part of the diploma thesis contains an example and a calculation using a program Simaris for the purpose of controlling electrotechnical conditions and substantiation of previously mentioned findings.
