Through this thesis I wanted to present the planning, manufacturing and assembly process of a prototype switching DC/DC converter which works on the basis of LM5581 regulator. The regulator should provide a constant voltage output of 12 V and current output up to 1 A. The goal was to create a circuit board on the smallest area as possible, and to check the stability and functionality of the converter.
Thesis is made up of three parts. In the first part I wanted to present the operating principle and functionality of various converters while explaining their pros and cons. Second part explains individual elements of the circuit and the forming of the board itself, as for the last part, various measurements and tests were performed with different loads.
All the difficulties and solutions that have arose during the process are explained in the concluding part of the thesis. The thesis was made in cooperation with the Electronics and drives department in Kolektor Group d.o.o.
