The Diploma thesis describes the process of development of electronic hardware for RS485 communication used for communication between electronic electric meters made by Iskraemeco. In the beginning is description of types of communication and interfaces for remote control and reading of electrical energy.
The goal was to build three versions of the RS485 interface and describe process, which comprises the principle idea, selection of concepts, selection of components, and prediction of system performance using simulation. Based on test procedures and measurement results, different versions were compared according to their functions, dimensions, price and reliability analysis with FMECA.
