The main purpose of this thesis was to analyse the data of the first round of the Delphi study. Stakeholders views about Slovenian science education were presented in this work. It is important to emphasise that stakeholders views should lead the development of the science education. In the first part of this work the concept of scientific literacy is presented. According to the results of the research of scientific literacy the Delphi study about teaching science subjects has been planned..
This Delphi study has been a part of the international project PROFILES within the sphere of the 7th Framework Programme financed by the European Union. The first level of the study included different groups of experts from the fields of science and its users in practice, namely: (1) researchers on the field of science, (2) researchers on the field of science-didactics, (3) teachers of science, (4) students of two-subject study programmes with combinations of chemistry, biology and physics, (5) sixteen-year-olds and (6) counsellors that carry over the solutions to practice. According to the analysis, together with the synthesis of opinions of individuals in the groups enumerated above, it can be concluded that the suitable science education can be reached by: (1) properly encouraging the interest of studying science, (2) choosing the proper science-situations and using them in the suitable context, (3) finding out the most suitable science contents and didactic methods, (4) selecting the skills and knowledge necessary for developing proper scientific literacy.
