The language and style research is used to analyze five articles, which attempt to be investigative stories but are in fact an example of texts, whichuse stylistically marked linguistic means instead of information and verified facts. Ranking expressive and colloquial words function as a substitute for arguments, the author's evaluation is not based on authentic data. Fragmented stories; melodramatisation; for journalism unusual use of first person singular pronoun, unclearly exchanged with the usual plural one; evaluation and arbitrary interpretation; words, which are due to the intensification of style values offensive; all these show the image of Slovenian journalism, which creates media scandals. It can be recognized as a sign of tabloidization of mass media, expressed also through choice of linguistic means in the analyzed articles.
