The challenge of the health system is to ensure accessible and well-organized primary health care, which represents the first point of contact with health care for most patients. Citizens’ satisfaction is influenced by the accessibility and organization of health services, waiting times, timeliness of examinations, communication, and the attitude of health personnel. The purpose of the thesis was to analyze the satisfaction of citizens of the Municipality of Brezovica with primary health care and to examine factors associated with their satisfaction.
Data were collected using an anonymous questionnaire from a random sample of 124 respondents with a selected personal physician in the Municipality of Brezovica. The questionnaire measured satisfaction with different aspects of the last treatment and overall satisfaction with treatment. The hypotheses were tested using Spearman’s correlation coefficient and the Kruskal-Wallis test.
The results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between the timeliness of the examination and overall satisfaction with treatment, confirming the first hypothesis. No statistically significant differences in satisfaction with the organization of primary health care were found according to the frequency of health service use; therefore, the second hypothesis was not confirmed. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between waiting time and overall satisfaction with the health service provider, confirming the third hypothesis.
The results may help providers and the Municipality of Brezovica identify areas for improving primary health care. Since the study was limited to one municipality, further research involving several municipalities is recommended.
