The assignment discusses the development of guitar posture and playing technique
throughout history. Special emphasis is placed on the development of classical guitar
from classicism to the beginnings of modern classical guitar, and important teachers
and guitarists such as Francisco Tárrega, Emilio Pujol and Andrés Segovia are also
presented, who have had such a significant influence on modern technical playing.
The following highlights three general groups of injuries in musicians:
musculoskeletal injuries, nerve injuries and focal dystonia. The main focus is placed on
problems of the upper body, such as the spine, shoulder joint and arms, which are the
most stressed when playing the guitar.
An important part of the assignment focuses on the prevention of injuries in guitar
playing, emphasizing the role of the teacher in guiding students toward proper posture,
an appropriate sitting position, and correct use of the hands. The importance of choosing
the right instrument, correct playing technique, muscle relaxation, and the inclusion of
regular brakes, warm ups, and stretching in practice routines is also discussed. The
chapter on warming up and stretching also includes specific preventive stretching
exercises for guitarists with a physiotherapist Melita Gole Kordiš and guitar teacher
Daniel Eyer. Finally, the impact of stress and anxiety on musicians and the role of the
teacher in creating a stimulating and safe learning environment are discussed.
