This master's thesis addresses violence against the elderly, manifesting in both classic and specific forms. It outlines the aging process, demographic trends regarding population aging, and the impact of ageism on violence against the elderly. Societal and individual attitudes toward aging, as well as common myths about aging and older people, are also examined. The thesis presents the various forms of violence against the elderly, potential triggers, and the consequences of such abuse. Furthermore, it discusses systemic and legal solutions, along with examples of best practices from both Slovenia and abroad. The empirical section analyzes, based on key themes, stories of elderly individuals collected by the Humanitarček association, as well as interviews with violence prevention coordinators from selected Social Work Centres (CSD), the secretary of the Community of Social Work Centres of Slovenia, and a
representative of the Srebrna nit organization.
