The thesis addresses the planning of green corridors in the city of Celje with the aim of improving ecological connectivity, the quality of urban space, and recreational opportunities for residents. Potential green connections were identified using a spatial modelling method in ArcGIS Pro with the Linkage Pathways tool. The analysis is based on several spatial parameters, including the NDVI vegetation index, tree canopy cover, land use, distance from built-up areas, and proximity to watercourses, residential areas, and roads. The parameters were evaluated according to different types of green corridors, with weights determined on the basis of expert sources and professional judgement. The results present potential routes for ecological, riparian, recreational, and roadside green corridors and highlight the importance of connecting existing green areas into a comprehensive green infrastructure network for the city. The design is complemented by guidelines and a catalogue of measures for the development of individual corridor types, which enable an adaptive and gradual implementation of the proposed measures. The thesis contributes to the understanding of green corridor planning opportunities in urban environments and provides a basis for sustainable spatial development and improved quality of life in the city.
