The research work examines the motif of love in the poetry of Lili Novy and Berta Bojetu and compares their representation in the poetry collections Temna vrata (1941) and Žabon (1979). The theoretical part presents the characteristics of love and erotic poetry as well as the literaryhistorical context of both poets. The central part of the thesis is based on an interpretative analysis of five poems from each collection, focusing on the motif of love, the role of the female lyrical subject, the relationship between emotion and corporeality, and the poets' expressive devices. The analysis demonstrates that the poetics of the two authors differ primarily in their understanding of corporeality, the role of the female lyrical subject, and the evaluation of the erotic experience and also reveals shared motifs of longing, loneliness, and inner conflict.
