The diploma thesis offers a detailed examination of the complete oeuvre of Marija Gorše (three poetry collections Krog, Zid and Stiskalnica, short story collection Usode and the novel Očiščevanje). It places her work in a comparative context with the first two poetry collections of Mila Kačič (Neodposlana pisma, Letni časi) and the first two poetry collections of Saša Vegri (Mesečni konj, Naplavljeni plen). The thesis focuses on the representation of romantic love in selected poems and, in addition to close readings, also includes a thematic, motif-based and formal analysis. The analysis shows that love is a central experience of the lyrical subject in the work of all three authors, and that Marija Gorše's poetic oeuvre, in terms of thematic complexity, choice of motifs and formal development, does not fall behind more established oeuvres of Mila Kačič and Saša Vegri.
